Leading Worship is a special gift and bears a lot of responsibility. The leader of the Traditional service leads the hymns and, on occasion, a contemporary hymn or song as well as conducts much of the service. While the service is already designed with the flow that enables the worshiper to focus on God and listen for His communication to his/her heart and mind the actuality of that happening is largely dependant on the skill of the worship leader.
The Contemporary Worship Leader leads one of 4 teams which service all contemporary services every 4 weeks. He is responsible to design the Worship Set along with thoughts, scripture and prayer to create the flow spoken of above. He also leads the rehearsal for his team including a spiritual focus for them as they prepare and perform. He is the one who also communicates with the congregation in the worship service, just as the leader of the traditional service.
